ITALIAN SMA PRIEST RELEASED FROM CAPTIVITY

Fr. Pier Luigi Maccalli, a member of the Society of African Missions, was released from captivity over two years after he was kidnapped by a Jihadist group in Niger, Africa. He was one of four hostages released this week, in Mali, by fighters believed to be linked to Al-Qaeda.

The 59 year old priest from Crema in Northern Italy was kidnapped on September 17th, 2018. The first notice that he as alive was received in April of this year when a brief video was published of him and another hostage in  captivity.

Archbishop O’Reilly would like to thank all those who throughout the Diocese have joined in prayers for the liberation of Fr. Maccalli.
