Bishops of Ireland will undertake a pilgrimage to the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine in Knock.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been a particularly difficult time for those who have lost loved ones and have often had to cope with their grief without many of the usual spiritual and community supports.
To pastorally support everyone who has suffered the pain of bereavement during the pandemic, and in the context of the month of November as the traditional time when we remember our dead, on next Sunday, 14 November at 3.00pm, the Bishops of Ireland will undertake a pilgrimage to the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine in Knock. The bishops will concelebrate Mass for all those who have died in our country during the pandemic, and for their families. At the Mass the bishops will also offer prayers of thanksgiving for all those who so selflessly sacrificed so much during the pandemic. This Mass will be live-streamed on www.knockshrine.ie and broadcast on the RTÉ News Now digital television channel and online.
The bishops invite everyone to join with them in prayer on this solemn occasion.

The Irish Suicide Bereavement Survey
The Irish Suicide Bereavement Survey was launched on Tuesday 5th October. The aim of this survey is to examine the experiences of people who have been bereaved by suicide in Ireland. This survey will provide valuable information on the experiences of those who have been bereaved by suicide; the supports they found helpful; and if there are gaps or barriers to accessing these supports.
We are seeking to hear from a range of people who have experienced loss to suicide. This includes people close to the person such as friends and family, as well as other people who were affected by the death such as emergency service staff, professionals caring for the person, a passer-by who witnessed the death, neighbours or other members of the community. You must be 18 years or over and living in Ireland to participate. You can find out more and access the survey here: www.hugg.ie/suicide-bereavement-survey
Researchers at the NSRF are collaborating with HUGG (Healing Untold Grief Groups) to conduct this survey, funded by the HSE’s National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP).

Youth News
Cashel and Emly Pope John Paul II Awards: Calling all parishes and schools to support the Pope John Paul II Awards initiative in our Diocese. If you have a secondary school student(s) from TY year upwards, who is actively involved in the faith life of the parish/school (or might be interested in doing so), why not encourage them to sign up for the Pope John Paul II Award. The Award can be completed over the course of 12 -16 months through voluntary activity in parish and community. Fr. Vincent Stapleton, the Diocesan Director would only be delighted to visit your parish and assist with the setting up of the Award. Our new diocesan plan – Seeds of Hope – calls us all to encourage the youth of our diocese to get involved. This is a great way to do so.
Thurles Youth Prayer Group: We resume our weekly meetings on Fridays 8-9pm in Bohernanave Church, Thurles. Friendship and authentic prayer experience for young people aged 18-35. All are welcome – why not come and see?
Catechism Study Group: Fr. Vincent’s Catechism Study Group will start back in Lamh Chunta on Wednesday November 10th @ 7.45 – 9.15pm with an introductory evening to explain the new one year course and what is involved in it. Answer the call of our diocesan plan – “Seeds of Hope” – with this opportunity to explore our faith and find new ways to communicate it with enthusiasm and joy. Hope to see you there.
