READINGS for CONFIRMATION 2026

1st Reading

A reading from the Prophet Micah.

(Chapter 6:6-8)

With what gift shall I come into the Lord’s presence and bow down before God on high?

Shall I come with burnt offerings?

With calves a year old?

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with tens of thousands of rivers of oil?

What is good has been explained to you, O mortal one.

This is what the Lord asks of you:

Only this, to act justly.

To love tenderly,

And to walk humbly with your God.

This is the Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Responsorial:  Psalm 26

Response:   The Lord is my light and my help.

The Lord is my light and my help.

whom shall, I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life. R//

There is one thing I ask of the Lord,

For this I long,

To live in the house of the Lord,

All the days of my life,

To savour the sweetness of the Lord,

To behold his temple. R//

I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness.

In the land of the living.

Hope in him, hold firm and take heart.

Hope in the Lord.  R//

2nd Reading

A READING FROM THE LETTER OF ST. PAUL TO THE EPHESIANS

(1:3-4: 14-19))

Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Before the world was made, he chose us, chose us in Christ.

Now, you too, in him, have heard the message of truth and the good news of your salvation and have believed it; and you, too,  have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit of the promise, the pledge of our inheritance, which brings freedom for those whom God has taken for his own to make his glory praised.

This is the Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Accclamation for Lent

Psalm 94:8

Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God.

Fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Glory to you, O Christ, you are the Word of God.

Alleluia for Easter Time

 Romans 8:15

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Alleluia

Gospel

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 4:16-22

The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me.

Jesus came to Nazara, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day as he usually did. He stood up to read, and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it is written:

The spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for he has anointed me.

He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor,

To proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord’s year of favour.

He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to speak to them. This text is being fulfilled today even as you listen.

And he won the approval of all, and they were astonished by the gracious words that came from his lips.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
